As an integrated school, UTSS didn't obligated the students to join the chemistry class, except for first grade student. The chemistry curriculum here is not that different from the one in Indonesia. I have the opportunity to observed several classes, either in the first grade or in the second grade.
I observed Chemistry Class about Acid-Base Titration, Henry's Law, and exam preparation. Shingo Saitou Sensei as my cooperating teacher was a dedicated teacher who always encourage students to express their opinion about the materials. Saitou Sensei also a very talkative and proactive teacher.
Saitou Sensei uses a various methods of teaching like lecturer, group discussion, predict-observe-explain (POE), experiment, question and answer, etc. He always use student worksheet to highlight the important terms and so the students have the chance to keep up with the materials.
One I really enjoyed in Saitou Sensei Chemistry Class is the supportive atmosphere that make students comfortable to express their answer without fear being wrong.
